Stephane Reynaud's 365 Challenge + Cookbooks Giveaway (Worldwide) + Homemade Baconnaise (Bacon Mayonnaise) Recipe

First we had Julie Powell cooking Julia Child's book. Then we had Momofukufor2 cooking Momofuku's book. Do you know that there is now a group of foodies and cooking enthusiasts that are gathering force and cooking up in a new project?

I am incredibly excited to be involved in this Stephane Reynaud's 365 challenge initiated by leading Australian publisher Murdoch books.

Here are my profile and three posts I have contributed:

12 February: Frosted Orange

They are inviting all keen foodies to join in to their 365 challenge and help them cook their way through Stéphane Reynaud's fabulous 365 Good Reasons to Sit Down to Eat.

If you'd like to be part of the challenge, just send an email to meetus@murdochbooks.com.au with '365' in the subject line, and they'll get in touch with you. If you like to cook and try new recipes, they would love to hear from you.

By entering their 365 challenge, you will go in the draw to win one of two copies of Stephane Reynaud's 365 Good Reasons to Sit Down to Eat RRP at AU$79.95. This giveaway is open to all Almost Bourdain's readers worldwide. It ends 11:59pm on the 17 of April 2010 (AEST). The winners will be contacted directly by Murdoch Books.

Hard-boiled Eggs with Beconnaise (Bacon Mayonnaise) Recipe
Basic mayonnaise recipe adapted from Stephane Reynaud's 365 good reason to sit down to eat
Serves 6

Ingredients

12 eggs

For the Baconnaise:
1 egg
1 tbsp mustard
1 tbsp wine vinegar
300 ml (10 1/2 fl oz) sunflower oil
Salt and pepper
30 g bacon, cut into bits and fried until crisp

Method
  1. Cook the egg, by carefully immersing them in boiling water, cook at a gentle simmer for 10 minutes, refresh in ice water. Remove the shells.
  2. To make the mayonnaise put the egg, mustard and vinegar in a bowl, add the oil, season and process in a food processor or use a stick blender to combine.
  3. Stir in the bacon bits.

Baconnaise sounds interesting, even better would be to use bacon fat as a substitute for oil though it may affect the texture and clog the arteries:)
