I was attracted to the title and was surprised to see the recipe was adapted from Tessa Kiros' cookbook. I didn't recall reading any recipe of homemade ferrero's. So I went straight to my book shelf and flipped through the cookbook and then realised it was from a recipe titled "Chocolate Hazelnut Balls".
I couldn't wait any longer to dip my hands into this Nutella madness. Especially when the recipe calls for only 4 ingredients and no baking is required. Furthermore, these chocolate hazelnut balls are great for Christmas. Can you believe Christmas is only 11 weeks away?!
The accuracy of the four ingredients is really not that important. Phoodie (read it HERE) and Tessa (3 hazelnut wafer biscuits, 250 g roasted peeled hazelnuts, 185 g chocolate hazelnut spread and 250 g semi-sweet dark chocolate) both have different measurements of ingredients and I believe both versions will turn out well. It all depends on the wafer biscuits and nuts ratio you prefer. Then add enough of Nutella (chocolate hazelnut spread) to bind them together. Dip them into the melted pool of your preferred chocolate (dark, milk or a mix of both) and that is all!
Here is my version:

Ingredients
100 g hazelnut wafer biscuits, crushed
150 g hazelnuts
200 g Nutella
250 g semi-sweet dark chocolate (or milk chocolate)

Method
- Preheat the oven to 180C. Spread out the hazelnuts on a rimmed baking sheet and roast them in the oven for 8-10 minutes, until they are warmed through and aromatic. Remove from the oven and let cool and rub their skins off with a tea towel. Finely chop the hazelnuts.
- Combine the wafer biscuits, chopped hazelnuts. Add Nutella and mix them with hands.
- Roll approximately 1 heap teaspoon of the mixture into ball. Repeat and you should get around 30-40 balls depending on the size. (If the mixture is not firm enough to roll, put it in the refrigerate for 15-30 minutes until it's firm enough to roll into balls.)

- Put them in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to firm up.
- Melt the dark chocolate and let it cool.
- Remove the balls from the refrigerator and dip them into the melted chocolate until well coated.

- Let them set in room temperature or in the refrigerator if the weather is too hot.

To transform it into Rafaello balls, roll the chocolate around grated coconut. :D

Delicious. Chocolate hazelnut combo looks awesome.
What a delicious idea! I cannot wait to try these scrumptious-looking chocolates!
Yum!! These would be PERFECT for my little sister, who despises the big chunk of hazelnut in ferrero rochers. Maybe these can be part of her upcoming birthday present :P
Oh my, I cant wait to try to make these! They'll be a delight over the holidays for sure!i
There is nothing i love more in the world than chocolate and hazelnut! this one jst hit the nail right on the head!
I adore hazelnut and chocolate together and was thinking of making some sort of truffle-like thing similar to this. But mine, sadly, would have to be low carb and probably not *quite* as amazing as yours!
@ The Nosh Pit and @ ICook4Fun: Try your local supermarkets, Asian grocers or delis. If all failed, use plain or chocolate wafer biscuits.
woohoo i love non bake desserts!
this looks great Ellie!
Mmmm these look fantastic. I love ferroro chocolates!
So easy to make and such an impressive gift, party centrepiece or as non-baked petits fours!
Oh so divine!! There cannot be more beautiful combo than hazelnut and chocolate.

I'm both horribly alarmed it's only 11 weeks until Xmas, and absolutely unwilling to wait so long to try these. How simple and delicious and elegant too :)
YUM! :D
I'm a sucker for Ferrero Rochers!! Goodness, this recipe is just brilliant! No baking requires, too! The confectioneries look decadent!
Oooeee!! How scrumptious, Ellie. :-) Perfect timing too as I'm really getting in the mood for Christmas baking. :-)
Wow, how did I miss this in Tessa's book? Thanks for calling my attention to this recipe. And with lots of time to plan for Christmas.
I used to eat lots of Ferrero Rocher when I was younger. That was before I found dark chocolate. And you are making Ferrero Rocher at home! wow! Could I have some please?
Wow-- this looks absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing :).
Oh man Ferreros are my favourite! I must make this sometime. Thanks for posting!
Gawd, these are gorgeous. And they look like some fancy chocolatier shop made them. This would be a perfect gift at Christmas time for all my chocolate-loving friends. ;)
You're killin' me, Ellie! My favorite chocolate candy easily made with my own hands? This could be dangerous ;).
I love the simplicity and the "wow" factor of this! I don't know a single person who can turn down a ferrero rocher and I'm sure it would impress everyone if I made them myself! Can't wait to try it out. And please don't remind me how quickly Christmas is approaching!
What a lovely homemade chocolate confection :) Great job!
I bookmarked this recipe for my laws for the Christmas. Thanks Elie
You are killing me here! I make my own truffles, too - haven't posted them on my site yet, but this looks deadly! I want to subscribe to your site, but I don't "do" readers or feeds as I never get to them in a timely fashion... if you ever upload a subscribe by mail plug in - please notify me, and I will be the first to subscribe to get your posts in my e-mail box. That's how I keep up.

These are divine! I definitely love these all. I want to have a bite.
Yours is probably nicer than the ones sold in the shop.
I find the Ferrero Rocher nowadays not as nice as it used to be, not sure if they have started using not as good chocolate.
These "truffles" sound delicious. I'm definitely going to be making them soon.
These look absolutely perfect for Christmas! I can't believe they only contain four ingredients- thanks for sharing this, Ellie!
This is dangerous... ! =D
These look delicious! I'm so excited to make my favorite chocolates at home. (And I swear they aren't my favorite because my name is Hazel!)
Waw, Ellie!! Your home made versions look amazing, nearly to beautiful to eat!!
