A few weeks back, I have posted the below picture with a question on twitter, "What do you think I am making today?"
Sadly, no one has come up with a correct answer. Now I shall reveal that I was making Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Ice-Cream.When I mentioned previously that my fellow blogger friend Trissa has quite an impressive collection of cookbooks, I really meant it. Take a look at this quirky one she has collected over the years:

This cookbook couldn't have come at a better time. I have invited a group of 15 female food bloggers over for lunch and Sarah from One Green Bean was kind enough to sponsor 5 tubs of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream for the luncheon.
Since my favourite Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavour Cherry Garcia (this flavour is rated as one of the Ben & Jerry's 11 greatest hits along side with their Heath Bar Crunch, Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, New York Super Fudge Chunk, French Vanilla, Butter Pecan, Dastardly Mash, Fresh Georgia Peach, Raspberry, Mocha Swiss Chocolate Almond & Oreo Mint) is not sold in the tub, I have decided to make it using the recipe available from Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Dessert Book.
- Place the shaved chocolate flakes and the cherries in separate bowls. Cover and refrigerate.
- Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Whish in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute more. Pour in the cream and milk and whisk to blend.
- Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's instructions.
- After the ice cream stiffen (about 2 minutes before it is done), add the chocolate and the cherries, then continue freezing until the ice cream is ready.

Your pineapple salad was so divine. I could have eaten that all day! Thanks for much for having us all over - it was a fantastic day with such a bounty of great food. Your Cherry Garcia ice cream was so delicious and the Chocolat Peanut Butter Cup Brownies were so rich and gooey. Happy bellies all 'round :)

Oh my god drooling throughout this entire post! Cherry Garcia is my favorite Ben And Jerry's flavor too!!! But I totally wanna ask you how the home made stuff tastes. I have an ice-cream machine at home, but whenever i make a recipe that requires heavy cream. it leaves a REALLY greasy feeling/taste in my mouth after each bite. Would you know why? How does your ice-cream taste?
Thank you in advance and for sharing ALL the gorgeous pictures...ahhh yum.
You ladies - all amazing, every one of you!!! What a lunch! Beats eating out at a restaurant any time. Eye popping photos all the way. WOW.
What a fantastic spread of food. Looks like an amazing catch up. How great would it be to have so many other food bloggers like that around you?
I so love B&J ice-cream. I'm jealous of Trissa book collection, too. Seems everytime I get a new one, she already has it! :)
Nice work with the ice cream. Loved the little bit of history on its origins :)
Such a pity I couldn't come to this luncheon. With your track record, at the very least it would have been fantastic! Loved the reflection in the chili sambal shot :)

They are absolutely delicious, you just have to churn some to believe easy and simple stuffs simply taste the best! Thanks Ellie for introducing me to Ben & Jerry!
Did you follow the recipe as-is, no cooking of the eggs? I have a batch of B&J's Oreo Mint - made with raw eggs - that I'm slightly nervous about eating... Go my solution has been endless googling this morning to gather other cooks' experiences.
JUST finished churning this.... deeeelicious!
